What I was making : revealed!

The Maria Denmark Lotta Lady Bag

I loved your guesses as to what I was making in my last post!  and I loved how you were "getting warmer" with each guess.

Cake cover ?  No.

Sewing machine cover?  No.

Cat bed?  Well, it did look like a cat bed at one point in the process, but no.

Piece of luggage, like a carry-on?  Anna Christina, it turned out much larger than I thought it would so yes, it could be a carry-on, though that wasn't the original intention.

Handbag?  YES!  Ding ding ding, Tomasa, you are the winner!  But you also had insider knowledge (offline chatting about making a bag) so.....

The outer "fabric" is actually two layers....both from Kashi and both with a story I will share next post!

And what makes it so stiff?  Peltex.

Deets next post.

Be well!

  5. I missed your last post, so I didn't know you were sewing a bag. Know what's strange, though? I was looking at bag patterns to try and create something similar to the other bag you made with this fabric. Get out of my mind woman! Or maybe I should get out of yours. =)

    1. Ha ha ha! This fabric is actually different than the last two bags I made--maybe I should do a "group portrait" of all my bags??

  6. Your bag is just fab.u.lous! Yes, I had some insider info. :) although to be honest, I wasn't 100% sure looking at the photo that that was the bag we were chatting about. It really did look like a sewing machine cover in that photo. Anyway, your bag is beautiful! Great job!

  8. I am so impressed! You make the most amazing and professional bags! Have you ever thought about doing your own ASE or Craftsy class? I would be the first to sign up.

    1. Thanks Anna Christina! That's really flattering! Craftsy has a "design your own bag" class that I bought and never watched.

  9. This bag looks so professional-it will certainly go with many of your lovely work outfits. I wonder if I could make one in vinyl so it would be washable? Then use it at the barn to carry just a few supplies back and forth. As always Kyle, your work inspires. :-)

    1. Wow Mary, what a sweet comment! Yes, you can totally make this in vinyl. Mine is neoprene and pleather on the outside, so I think I could hose mine down. and the fact that the zipper is half way down each side means it is super easy to see everything inside.
