No pix allowed

So after my last posting, where I said I would see David Sedaris and Cesar Milan, Antoinette commented that she couldn't wait to see the pix.

Suddenly, I was presented with a challenge. I hadn't actually thought about taking pix. What was I going to do? I can't fail Antoinette's expectations!

I brought my camera to David's reading tonight.

No photographs, said the sign in the lobby. No photographs, announced the voice at the start of the reading.

After the show, David signed books. I should have bought a book. I should have surprised Pete and had it signed for him. It would have been perfect for Christmas. But that idea occurred to me as I was driving away.

Instead, I took a picture of him, through the window, signing a book for someone else. Then someone opened a side door and said "Excuse Me". And I just turned and walked away! I don't know if I was going to be chastised for taking a picture. Who knows.

And now I feel I let both Antoinette *and* Pete down. And like I did something I shouldn't have done.

Let's see if I can do better with Cesar.

David Sedaris signing books at Princeton

  1. What an emotional rollercoaster!

Glad that you enjoyed David Sedaris, and no problem about not getting a signed book (besides, you could always get one next October ;)

And I think that the sneaked picture looks fantastic! Not sure what the reasoning would be behind this particular "no photos" policy, but I understand how you feel - I took my camera on my swimming pool tour and really wanted to take pictures sort of like a souvenir, but the places all had "no camera" signs up. Being a good boy I obeyed, although part of me wishes I hadn't.

    Good luck with Cesar!

  2. Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to imply expectations -- I was thinking of your photo with Kevin from PR and just assumed you would have your photo taken with David Sedaris and Cesar Milan. If no photos are allowed, then I guess no photos are allowed. I'm sure no one wants to be bounced out of a book signing! LOL

Thank you for reading! I love hearing from you! Because I've been getting lots of spam comments, I'm changing the settings to moderated comments.
